The Heidelberg Institute for International Conflict Research (HIIK) is an independent, non-profit, and interdisciplinary organization. Since 1991, we have been dedicating ourselves to the research on the emergence, dynamics and settlement of political conflicts worldwide. After strong growth in recent years, more than 200 volunteer researchers are currently working at the HIIK, including students, PhD candidates and alumni. Our funding is based solely on membership fees, donations, and the royalties on our publication.

The International Peace Institute (IPI) is an independent, international not-for-profit think tank dedicated to managing risk and building resilience to promote peace, security, and sustainable development. To achieve its purpose, IPI employs a mix of policy research, strategic analysis, publishing, and convening. Founded in 1990 the IPRA Foundation, a non-profit, tax-exempt organization, furthers the purposes and activities of the International Peace Research Association (IPRA) which, since 1965, has sought to enhance the processes of peace.

The Peace Research Institute Oslo (PRIO) conducts research on the conditions for peaceful relations between states, groups and people.

The Peace Science Digest is a tool to usher in change. By increasing the visibility and application of academic knowledge from peace science, we aim to strengthen the peace and security field by making evident how militarism undermines peace around the world.

The Peace Research Partnership (PRP) aims to enhance programming and policy on conflict and security issues by the UK government and other policymakers, as well as by practitioners. It is a consortium of the UK’s three leading peacebuilding NGOs: Conciliation Resources, International Alert and Saferworld. In 2017, PRP began a four-year programme to generate evidence and recommendations for policymakers and practitioners on how to support peaceful and inclusive change in conflict-affected areas.

The consortium has produced a range of research outputs, documenting the research findings and proposing recommendations. These focus on inclusive peace processes (Conciliation Resources), inclusive economic development (International Alert), and on inclusive security and justice, and decentralisation (Saferworld), as well as on gender and peacebuilding. In all aspects of the programme, consortium members have considered how gender interacts with peacebuilding and inclusion.

Now in its fourth year, the PRP consortium is working with the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office to develop practical methods to apply the evidence and learning generated by the research.

Strengthening Human Rights and Peace Research and Education in ASEAN/Southeast Asia (SHAPE-SEA) "has gained visibility and established credibility as a reliable, constructive and nurturing hub for Southeast Asian human rights and peace scholars, researchers and academics."

SIPRI is an independent international institute dedicated to research into conflict, armaments, arms control, and disarmament. Established in 1966, SIPRI provides data, analysis, and recommendations, based on open sources, to policymakers, researchers, media, and the interested public. Based in Stockholm, SIPRI is regularly ranked among the most respected think tanks worldwide.

Peacebuilding is a peer-reviewed international, comparative, multidisciplinary journal open to articles on making peace in contemporary and historical cases of conflict-affected societies. It aims to provide in-depth analyses of the ideologies, philosophies, interests, and policies that underpin programmes and initiatives designed to build peace, security, and order, and to connect with debates being held by policymakers, civil society, scholars and students. Our interest spans, but is not confined to, critical interrogations of international and local, formal and informal, peace processes, peacebuilding, mediation, peacekeeping and peace-enforcement, development, and statebuilding. We seek to support the examination of these concepts and policies against the backdrop of interdisciplinary theorising connected to realist, liberal, constructivist, critical, post-structural, post-colonial, and non-western theories, as well as encouraging an engagement with emerging theories of global justice, digital international relations, and new materialism, among others.
