The Faith & Belief Forum has worked tirelessly for over 20 years to build good relations between people of all faiths and beliefs, and to create a society where difference is celebrated.

We create spaces in schools, universities, workplaces and the wider community where people can engage with questions of belief and identity and meet people different from themselves. Enabling people to learn from each other in this way is often the most effective way to tackle ignorance and challenge stereotypes – and create understanding and trust between people.

  • Religion, Culture, and Peace Laboratory at Payap University

Payap University Deal globe surrounded by four religious structures

The mission of the Religion, Culture, and Peace Lab (RCPL) is to complement the Ph.D. program in Peacebuilding to develop a holistic approach to peace education and prepare excellent peacebuilders for the world. So far, the Ph.D. program in Peacebuilding has primarily emphasized the academic and cognitive dimensions of peace studies. Now with the existence of the RCPL, we envision a holistic approach to the Peacebuilding program through developing the following three qualities of an excellent peacebuilder:

    • Virtuous peacebuilders: A virtuous peacebuilder is one who embodies ethical principles and the capacity to resolve conflict ethically. In this micro context of the RCPL, producing a virtuous peacebuilder requires opportunities for widening familiarity with ethics and facilitated the cultivation of ethical principles or virtues.
    • Peacebuilders with noteworthy values: Excellent values are values that are harmless to all and induce long-term happiness, welfare, benefit, and peace for oneself, others, and the whole world. Such values can be found in cultures and religions around the world. In the context of the RCPL, these values can be brought into discussion, reflection, practice, and embodiment through seminars and forums for learning and sharing.
    • Practical and wise peacebuilders: A knowledgeable peacebuilder is the one who has mastery of the most updated knowledge of the peace studies field and the context where he or she works. A wise peacebuilder is the one who has keen discernment of knowledge and reality including the inner self and the external reality and knows how to apply knowledge correctly and effectively for greater benefit and peace for all including oneself. In this academic environment, the PhD Program has long emphasized theoretical knowledge development. There is a lack of practical wisdom in peacebuilding. To fill in this gap, the RCPL will facilitate training and sharing of practical wisdom through workshops, field exposures, and others.
  • Religions for Peace

Religions for Peace logo, outline of dove

Religions for Peace is where the world’s religions join together to ensure that all people enjoy peace, harmony, and prosperity.

We see the world’s challenges and understand they can benefit from an interfaith, innovative, and inclusive response. Our 90 national and 6 regional Interreligious Councils, or “IRCs,” bring together, not only the vast influence and resources of all faith traditions, but also their spiritual commitment to achieve solutions that leave no one behind.

Religions for Peace’s global movement is distinguished by its global leadership, Interreligious Councils, and interfaith women and youth networks which are working at local, national, and regional levels as changemakers. They respond to challenges – everything from violence and discrimination to environmental degradation – with bold solutions.

We are more than an organisation. For 50 years, Religions for Peace has been a movement changing the world and challenging the status quo through our mutual conviction that religions are more powerful, inspiring, and impactful when they work together.
