| Description: |
Twenty-four hours after the 9/11 attacks, Church World Service contacted the staff at the Center for Justice and Peacebuilding asking for help dealing with the long-term trauma effects for the communities in New York, Washington, and Pennsylvania. The resulting program (Strategies for Trauma Awareness and Resilience or STAR) continues today with an expanded focus on many forms of community trauma. Carolyn Yoder wrote this little book to explain the core of the STAR program for those who were unable to attend the workshops. An updated second edition will be released in 2019. Carolyn Yoder was the first director of the STAR program at the Center for Justice and Peacebuilding. She currently directs her own online program Peace After Trauma and continues to partner with STAR and CJP (https://emu.edu/cjp/resources/little-books#star). |
