Description:

In the Philippines, at least half of the population comprise children.

The same population live below the poverty level in which seven out of ten families are affected.

In this context, it is but fitting and proper to advocate for the basic rights and needs of children. Every child's well-being should be protected. The child should be given opportunities and environment to enable him or her to develop in all aspects - physically, emotionally, socially and spiritually.

This peace camp was conceptualized as a culminating activity and concrete response to the UN Decade for the Protection of Children. The aim in view is to highlight the rights of children as embodied in the UN Convention of the Rights of the
child.

The title of this publication, KATDULA, mirrors the basic rights of children to develop their full potentialities. Coined from the Cebuano terms "Kat-on" which means Learn and "DULA" which means Play.

Learning through playing was the approached used during the Children's Peace Camp.
