First Annual Peacebuilding Training
MPI’s conducts its first Annual Peacebuilding Training. This Annual Peacebuilding Training has been conducted every year since then, generally in the month of May, but often into June.
Young professionals join MPI as secretariat volunteers, documenting courses and assisting the facilitators.

MPI includes community immersion called “field-based” courses in its curriculum.

Women, youth, indigenous peoples, religious and community leaders begin to receive scholarships to attend MPI’s Annual Peacebuilding Training.

Collaboration Develops with NARPI
MPI is invited to serve as an Advisory Member of the Steering Committee of the Northeast Asia Regional Peacebuilding Institute (NARPI) and to assist in the development of NARPI as a peacebuilding training institute in NEA.
MPI invites the first NARPI facilitator to facilitate at MPI’s Annual Peacebuilding Training, starting the practice to invite NARPI facilitators on a yearly basis.

MPI signs a Memorandum of Understanding with the Government of the Solomon Islands' Ministry of National Unity Reconciliation and Peace (MNURP) to collaborate in peacebuilding training (this was changed to the Ministry of Traditional Governance, Peace and Ecclesiastical Affairs in 2019).

Elizabethtown College Students Conduct Survey for MPI
Students and teaching assistants of the Department of Sociology and Anthropology's Research Methods and Statistical Analysis course of Elizabethtown College collaborate on a year-long community-based research project with MPI. The students design a research project examining the profiles, satisfaction, current work in peacebuilding, and suggestions for improvement of alumni throughout the world who have participated in the training program.

Rotary Peace Fellow Intern Conducts Research for MPI in Lao PDR
MPI alumna and facilitator Phyusin Ngwethaw joined MPI as an intern through the Rotary Peace Fellowship with the University of Queensland, Australia, and condcuted research in Lao PDR to learn how MPI alumni there utilize what they learned at MPI in their work and what MPI could do better.

MPI Goes Online
With the COVID-19 pandemic forcing the cancelation of MPI's 2020 in-person Annual Peacebuilding Training, MPI adapts and conducts its first series of online/virtual courses, including a coolborative effort with Canadian Mennonite University.

Collaborative Effort with NP and JNC
MPI entered into cooperation with Nonviolent Peaceforce and the Joint Normalization Committee to conduct two online trainings, one on Peacebuilding and Conflict Transformation, and the other on Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning. The trainings were funded by the European Union.

First trainings outside the Philippines
In 2022 and 2023, MPI organized its first trainings outside the Philippines. The training in 2022 was organized for the teachers from universities in Indonesia, and the training was facilitated by MPI alumni that formed the Lembaga Perdamaian Indonesia (Indonesia Peacebuilding Institute).
In India, MPI collaboarted with the United Board for Christian Higher Education in Asia to organize a Peace Education course for teachers connected to the United Board.
